Hi all
I’m about to bottle a wine expert kit and it states if storing for longer than 3 months to add potassium metabisulphite. Bottom line is I don’t have any but I do have sodium metabisulphite, can I use this without any issues.

Yes you can, but it will taste. Winemakers on use sodium metabisulphate for cleaning. Never in the wine

As mb says use the right one or you could ruin the wine.

Potassium metabisulfite, K2S2O5, also known as potassium pyrosulfite, is a white crystalline powder with a pungent odour. It is mainly used as an antioxidant or chemical sterilant

Campden tablets in the UK ARE pretty much Sodium metabisulphate.. Its cheap.

They will make the wine taste like "rough honemade sh1te"... Just dont, you can get pot met, it just takes some finding.

I bottled it a couple of weeks ago,, didn’t add the sodium met thank god !..I’m starting to do a few wine kits now and have been looking for the potassium met on the usual sites to no avail. It states 1.5g per 21lt, so don’t need much. A 25g bag would probably last years
