When I joined this forum Chippy welcomed me in and I saw recipes for orange and apple wine from supermarket juices. I have made both and in my opinion the apple is tastier (drinking apple at the mo):thumb:

Hi Partist, thanks for this info. I too really like the AJ wine as a light white. I made one version with D47 and another with K1V but prefer the D47 wine. My experience is that if all the AJ is in at the start of fermentation, the finished wine tastes like a grape wine, without obvious apple notes. I know that one can increase the fruit juice flavour by adding some of the juice after the vigorous ferment, which I do on some occasions. As with my 'discovery' of elderberries for improved reds, my progress with whites and pinks owes much to apple juice.

The original orange wine (orange and apple juice mixed) is a bit like marmite some love it some don't i fall into the latter category and only made it once, before white grape juice became scarce i used to make a few different versions using WGJ mixed with either cranberry, raspberry, blackberry or ant juice i could find with no preservative in it, i now use red grape juice as the base and usually mix it with apple juice for a basic rosé type wine though do occasionally try other juices just for a change.

I now also make the Range store rosé wine regularly as its £20 for a 30 bottle kit so is as cheap to make as a WOW - http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=33697

They also do Red, White and Cider kits -

Just found where the nearest Range store is to me so will be giving it a try
Anyway I found some WGJ at the local Waitrose £1.75 a Litre and started off some Pineapple wine and Mango and Apple wine. They are both bubbling away merrily (and loudly) in the airing cupboard in the bedroom. SWMBO is giving me grief about how loud it is even though she claims being deaf (selective I think). The Pineapple has got about an inch of sediment in the bottom and the Mango and Apple has got an inch of scum on the top (looks like something from a swamp) but looking foreward to trying them.
