Yeast colonies

I was just watching an american brewing youtube channel's (brewingtv) videos and came across a clip of a us brewing club cultivating yeast for their members.

Any ideas of there is anything like that going onin UK? Anyone groups on the forum do such a thing?

I don't know of any, but that's not to say that it isn't happening! I should very much like to be part of such a group!
