London and South East England Craft Brewing Competition 2014

Time to get those beers registered and entries paid. If you are sending your beers by post or courier time is also getting tight! Deadline to get beers entered and paid is next MONDAY 9th June, mid-day. Beers must be received by Friday 13 June, 14:00 for postal or you can drop-off EARLY on the...

    Norfolk Brew Shed

Concrete bases that size would be better going with "readymix". Get some mates with wheelbarrows and pay them in beer.

putting your brewery in a shed

Brewing in a detached garage at the side of the house without any neighbours on that side so that's a bonus. Mostly selling via work colleagues. I don't have any local outlets yet, only started last year. But looking to try and sell into the Bottle Shop etc in St Albans.

putting your brewery in a shed

I thought that Bobs Brewery was being produced in a "home based" setup. Apparently not. He's now using the 4brl kit at The Farmers Boy. I'm only in Hemel and selling bottled beer from my 70lt system.

    WANTED: Beer crates

Best option if you have even a small level of diy skill is to make your own wooden crates. Several threads on here.

London and South East England Craft Brewing Competition 2014

If you're going to brew for the competition time is getting tight! Especially for the stronger beers that will need time mature properly. If you have beers already bottled then get them registered and paid for so you don't forget. Should be a brilliant event being hosted at the new Beavertown...

    solar pump

I always add the ams/crs when filling the hlt so you can be sure its mixed as the tun is filling. My hlt is 100lt and i'm happy with my solar pump recirc. Certainly beats standing on TWO beer crates to stir the liquor when you're half asleep first thing in the morning!

    Solar Pump Spares

Due to being a bit heavy handed when tightening the brass connectors I have broken off BOTH threaded junctions on the impellor housing. Does anyone know if spares are available and from where?

    70l or 100l Shiny pots?

Just confirming what has already been said - "you can always brew a smaller batch in bigger pots" My non-thermo 100lt mash tun has two layers of foiled camping mats as insulation and even with 50lt of 4% beer in there I only loose about 1deg on mash temp over 90mins. Just bear in mind that with...

Bottle Drainer/Tree - Which to buy?

I've been using the 80 bottle version for the last 15 years and it still rotates. I made a plywood base and put heavy duty castors on it so the loaded tree can be wheeled around the garage from sink to bottling bench. Perfect for 50lt batches. Will do a picture thing when I get home.

    more accurate pid controllers

Even my OLD ATC-800 can control in 1 degree steps. Maybe time to digout the PID setup guide and change the configuration.

    Beer Brewing Software

I started with Promash a long time ago but moved over to Beersmith last year. I had tried BS previously but struggled with the interface. Eventually decided to change as BS is a live product, gets updates and has thousands of recipes you can download. PM is a dead product. ...and if you watch...

    How big is your conical?

Even more basic at the moment - you can just about make out the sensor dangling in ambient air on the right!! All controlled from an old ATC-800 with the set temp adjusted down by a few degrees to account for the difference between air and wort. It will eventully be installed in a thermowell and...

    How big is your conical?

I've eventually got around to brewing a large enough batch to make use of the large 120lt conical I bought from Vossy last year. I had to completely rebuild the fermentation cabinet to house the new baby. So now I have a 70lt batch of Galaxy Pale Ale bubbling away in here..... Now I need to...

    New automatic electric brewery

Looking damned impressive :thumb: Just started to build my box for the flow controller plus a few other bits. What are you using for the bezel on the 4x20 display?
