Chenin Blanc from Supermarket Juice and what?!?

Hi. Thanks for the advice - I went with 1 honeydew and 2 lemons. Blended, then mixed the pulp with more water and blended / strained again. And again. So I got the maximum juice and didnt add the pulp. I will let you know what it tastes like! In terms of the site, it was here...

Chenin Blanc from Supermarket Juice and what?!?

I have been making (white) wine from supermarket juices for a good while now, playing around with various flavours, and adding the compulsory elderflower, oak chippings, or whatever else I can sweep up from the floor of the garage. I was looking at another site a couple of weeks ago, which...

    Wiffy Wurzels

Hi, Just bottled my first wurzels after following the guide on here (Except I did a 5 gallon lot instead of 1 gallon!) All seems to be fine, except it has a bit of a wiff. Really hard to describe, but a bit off-putting. Can anyone confirm if this is normal or if it disappears with aging? Or do...

    Hazy wine confuser

If it helps, the fruit ingredients are as follows: Raisins (35.5%) (Raisins, Vegetable Oil) , Sultanas (35.5%) (Sultanas, Vegetable Oil) , Sweetened Dried Apple (20%) (Dried Apple, Dextrose, Humectant (Glycerol) , Apple Juice Concentrate , Starch , Flavouring , Acidity Regulator (Malic Acid) ...

    Hazy wine confuser

Yeah - its in a cool(ish) place - certainly not hot, and other wines / kits settle fine there. The bottles are also in the same place. I have tried filtering it today with a vinbrite filter, but it just gets blocked very quickly - typical of pectin. I am now wondering if its one of 2 things: 1)...

    Hazy wine confuser

...said it was confusing! Basically it will not clear in the brew vessel Refuses to. Wont. Once its in the bottle the sediment settles to the bottom of the bottle in a few days. Its just a pain having to syphon out of 30 bottles (i.e. take the lid of each bottle, and syphon off leaving the...

    Hazy wine confuser

Hi, I ave been making some cheap fruit wines - basically following the recipe from a belvino kit as follows: 1) Add 4 KG of sugar to 3l of boiling water 2) Add fruit (I ahve been using bags of dried fruit, such as Whitworths premium fruit mix - 500g) 3) Add pectalose (7g) and citric acid (40g)...

    Screw top bottles

Ok - all good ideas (Except possibly the milk!). I have actually come up with an alternative - the missus has a white pen - water based, so washes off with very little effort.... Would still be interested to know if anywhere sells the screw tops though - if only because that was my idea...

    Screw top bottles

Hi, I have been going a little mad brewing lately, bottling everything in screw tap bottles. I have been trying various different kits / recipes, on the basis that if I do a load it will have a chance to age before I drink it! However, keeping track of which wine is which is proving tricky...

    Wine kit recommendations for newbie

Hi, Thanks for the tips / advice. Not sure I am ready for the home made recipe as yet - I dont have any of the components (tannin / yeast / finings etc). Whilst I know they are easily available I am still trying to convince the missus this is a good idea, so need things that just work with...

    Wine kit recommendations for newbie

Hi, I have just completed my first effort from a Belvino 7 day californian white. Result are not bad, and I liked the simplicity of the kit (And the fact it comes with everything you need - stabiliser / finings etc) in the right quantities. That said, its not the best tasting wine I have ever...
