I am just starting out making some wine kits after having done some country wine previously.

I have some wine kits and will try them before I do some WOW recipes (there are some great ones on the forum).

The wine kits I have says to use a plastic DJ as the method includes shaking a lot which isn't recommended under pressure. Does anyone know whether this is essential or can I still use a glass DJ? I have seen some people on here using a stirring wand instead of shaking.

Any views? I would like to use glass if possible.

Glass DJ will be fine, just remove the airlock and cover the opening while shaking, then take your hand away to relieve the pressure.

The airlock will allow pressure out anyway, so there are no advantages of using plastic other than they bounce..
