hi all
Is it possible to leave the hydrometer in the specimen holder to long ? Reason being sg on Wednesday 1062 today 1052. All well an good I thought so off I went to do something else. Returned about 40 mins later an the hydrometer read 1040 unless I misread it in the first place!
Much appreciate any feedback

Yes Kelper I always spin off the bubbles. Now am thinking I misread if there’s no explanation of it changing cheers for your input anyway

No the paper isn’t loose i’ll Take another reading tomorrow
Thanks

Test it in water to see it is reading correct
Sorry just read the thread before and repeated it

Am not sure what the correct temperature is but I’ve got 2 hydrometer’s and after reading kelpers advice about the paper scale being loose I tried both an there the same. So my conclusion is I misread the other morning! Mind you I did have a decent tipple the night before
Cheers

It should state on the hydrometer somewhere what the reference temperature is, it's usually 20 or 21 deg c.
