Long Reach 3kw Element for Shorter Brewlength

Thanks for the info. I’ve had a quick look and it seems a bit on the small side at 1500 watts. A good site though.

Long Reach 3kw Element for Shorter Brewlength

Hi I’ve been trying to find a 3kw heating element with a long reach so I can hang it over the HLT and kettle and run 50 litre brews from my 200 litre kit. It would need to be 1.25 meter long with the submerged part of the element 0.75 meters from the top I’ve heard of a place in Tamworth that...

Fixings for eBay Purchased 200 litre kit

My female 1 inch BSP female connector wouldn’t get anywhere near the thread of the valve so maybe it’s somethjng else.

Fixings for eBay Purchased 200 litre kit

Great to hear it works! It might make sense for me to just buy new valves then. Could you advise a good supplier of valves and tube?

Fixings for eBay Purchased 200 litre kit

That would make sense. Thanks for the info. I’ve had a look through my usual sites and can’t find a 306 / 316 adapter to get it back to a 1inch BSP to attach my 1/2 inch barbs though. Any suggestions for the place for connectors/adapters? I’ve been using Maltmiller/BrewUK/ AngelBrew and RS...

Fixings for eBay Purchased 200 litre kit

I’ve recently bought a 200 litre kit which is missing most of the necessary connections and has only 3 feet of 13mm (internal diameter) tube. As I have only used basic brewstore connections I’m struggling. The outlet from the kettle, HLT, and mash tun have a 1-inch BSP connection. Currently...

    Organic Yeast

Cheers! These 2 posts have convinced me to start with Imperial but may change down the line. I’m hoping to set up on an organic farm so need to be able to convince the owner it’s organic.

    Organic Yeast

Thanks! Very much appreciated. I’d looked at these as they came top of a search but couldn’t find the word ‘organic’. Do you know if it is quoted anywhere?

    Brewing in a pub cellar

I've found the same at a couple of places, including the Slighachan Hotel on Skye. It has to be good, and consistent! Cheers!

    Brewing in a pub cellar

Thanks for the link. I found this article last night and it seemed to me as you suggested that it would require a change of use. I'll check with Edinburgh Council. In for a penny... Cheers

    Brewing in a pub cellar

I'm looking at setting up a wee micro in a pub cellar, and before applying for the licences I wanted to check the planning rules. It would be in Edinburgh City's conservation area. Does anyone know if this would require change of use planning consent? Its going to be really small scale, maybe a...

    Bottling with a conical

I bought an attachment from the malt Miller http://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=969 and some 9mm silicon tube from Brew uk with a 7mm short tube to make it fit. Getting ready to rack into the old fermenter to prime and then bottle. How are you going to prime your...

    Bottling with a conical

I put the hops in a muslim bag, tie it up and drop them in. The hop bag floats though so is limited. What were you planning to rack into? Are you using just a normal bucket? I'm ready to go tomorrow with racking my latest into the plastic fermenter.

    Bottling with a conical

Re. The racking arm, I've added a bit of 7mm bore tube to some 9mm bore to get my bottle stick to work.

    Bottling with a conical

I've been thinking about the same question. Since I've been using my Ss conical, I've just dropped in the sugar and stirred really gently. I think the sugar just fell to the bottom as the last two batches are pretty flat but not sweet. I'll probably use a secondary next time, although I am...

Might be interested too as I'm looking to buy one of the larger chronicals at some point. Any pictures yet? I'm in Edinburgh so not far away. Can you keep me posted? Cheers Mike
