    Amazon back orders

Ah well - I wont hold my breath then. ;) Looking at it, there's conflicting information on Amazon's site - so they dont really know what's going on. One one line they say that the book was published on the 31st of December, then on another they say its not yet released. The order status says...

    Amazon back orders

I've just had an email from Amazon about a status update about an order I'd placed... there I was thinking that I'd forgotten to give someone a Christmas present, but to my surprise it wasn't. It turns out that way-back-when in April 2011 I placed an order for the new Graham Wheeler homebrew...

    Simon's Brewery Build

Hi Alex, All I did was give it a good clean up to get rid of any grease, and then gave a good-old dollop of hot glue. This hardened pretty quick on the cold stainless. Round the edges I put some silicone sealant, so with this and the glue the boxes are stuck like the proverbial sh1t to a...

    Tesco kettle elements shock hazard.

I covered mine like this... not Tesco elements, but same thing applies with them.... I got a couple of weatherproof boxes to cover the terminals. I cut a slot in the back for the element tails, and rounded the backs off touch. I'll attached these with a hot glue gun and some silicone. I also...

    Another one for the electricians...

I cant see why not. A small little control box with a PID and a solid state relay (SSR) would to the trick. Only possible hic-up could be if the tea urn is double skinned. Not a show-stopper, but cutting holes in, and sealing could take a little more time. Simon

    Temp probe position

I think probe level in the HLT is more important than the boiler. If I was making my HLT again I'd make sure the temperature probe is mounted at a level just higher then the top of the element so that I can drain down the water without uncovering the temp probe. I guess this is still applicable...

    Cornie posts

Froggi, If you do still need a post, then take a look at the info on this page http://www.dresselbrew.com/Keg_Info.htm its a great resource to find out what model/make of Cornie you actually have as the threads/shapes do differ. I've got a mixed bunch, so had some difficulty getting the right...

Any Corni users in Banbury/Buckingham area?

See if any of these guys are close. http://uk.airliquide.com/en/contact-us/agent-network.html. I use one of their agents in Guildford for C02. They are pretty cheap (less than £20) with no cylinder rental charge. Simon

    Extension Lead Safety

... If you have a cooker switch with an integral 13A socket you could use that... That will come off the cooker/immersion feed

    Extension Lead Safety

I got some 2.5mm arctic cable (blue or white sheath, and cheaper than white-sheath... Go figure). This was cheaper than buying one ready made. As long as you don't have the cable coiled up then there is no issue with overheating So answering your questions. 1 - yes, and 2 - if you do buy one...

How easy can making AG beer be?...seriously easy !

I'm up for this :) Its not a bad way of using up some of the odds and sods. Mash in a low oven and then boil on the BBQ I think :) Simon

    Cooling Idea

You could use a small pump to create the whirlpool. It seems quite a common method in the US where they use the whirpool to make a trub cone in the middle of the boiler, then drain off the wort from the side. The Mr Malty guy uses this along with an immersion cooler...

    Power Switches

This is what I do with my control box. One mains feed and then two outputs, one to the HLT and one to the Boiler. These outputs are switched with a two power relays so that you can only have one on at a time. http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=13327&start=40 When I have...
