thanks chippy tea..just one more. why am i always being told to put camden tab in before fermentation if it only stuns the yeast. and should i still add one with the stabiliser although there is one already in the brew. many thanks
not sure if this is a daft question. i know stabiliser is used to prevent a refermentation if sweetening wine after its fermented.... but can it also halt a ferment in progress. cheers
well just started second batch of elderflower. although i let it defrost and the flowers turned brown. still going to go with it. hopefully it will be ok. at least ive enough sugar with this one....had to use around 300 grams of demerara to 900 of granulated last time. trial and error. cheers
thanks for the advice i think i will go for the cats **** wine lol. will puck some but would love to have elderberry wine too. so hopefully some berries this year as not many for the last couple although lots of flower. cheers
hooray..ive just bottled my first original wow. tried other wows but had to give orange a go. not sure if i like the idea of orange wine but we will see. as its the original i had to make it. looks like urine so i should get pxxxxd
its forest fruits not summer fruits sorry. just got a bottle from tesco and forgot that its pressed.. has anyone tried finings on just juice. does it work or shall i put it all back in the dj then add finings. cheers
i used 2 litres of summer fruit juice, 1kilo of sugar, 5mls lemon juice, 5mls glycerine, 1tsp of pectolase, 1tsp ofyoungs wine nutrient and youngs super wine yeast compound. i did forget to add tannin or rather strong tea to my brew.
hi everyone. just a quick question.... ive made a summer fruits wow with an sg of 1.140. the finishing sg is 994. could anyone tell me the strengh of my brew. im still learning how to work it out from a hydrometer and thought id got it but my wow doesnt make sense. cheers muggy
i had a cellar 7 origanally with the yeast it came with but after i killed it, bringing the temperature back down to 22 degrees i used wilko express compound yeast. hopefully mixing the yeast even tho one is dead wont cause a problem? you would know more.
