    What are you drinking tonight.

McEwans Champion ale is my all time favourite bottled beer.

    Kriek

I usually base my fruit beers on a Pilsner, and to be honest a decent Pilsner kit brew will do the trick. For the Kreik I simply add about 4 jars of morello cherries in syrup to the mix (always available from LIDL and ALDI) and brew as normal with a high alcohol tolerant yeast such as Safale 04...

    Christmas beer

Yes that's a 72' A100K on the cover of our VJMC magazine "Tansha". We restored it from a total rusty field bike into a stunning perfect example, then raffled it off for Cancer research at our annual ride-in classic bike show. We made £7k for the charity.

    Christmas beer

And here's another I'm wolfing down, my annual Christmas beer made with real Christmas puddings, fruit, spices and other interesting stuff. This one came out at 16.2% and is so moreish. However I've found that just one 750ml bottle is enough!

    Kriek

I just love Belgian based fruit beer and have made many in my years of brewing. Cherry, Raspberry, Strawberry, Blackcurrant, Fruits of the Forest, I've pretty much made them all. However, my favourite has to be Kriek (cherry), and here I'm drinking a 6.7% kriek I made about 9 months ago. Love...

    Ginger Growler

Well my calculation of 6.4% wasn't far out, it fermented down to 998 and came out at 6.2% so not bad. It certainly rips your throat out (which was my aim) and tastes absolutely delicious. It will clear a little more yet, but when brewing with fresh ginger root it's always a bit difficult to get...

    Old mad brewer returns

Nah, if you tasted it you would love it. It still retains all the flavours we associate a strong beer with. I guess after years of brewing, I know what will help retain key flavours and make it very palatable still. I once made a beer with Alcotec turbo yeast, which turned out at 23.4%...

    Old mad brewer returns

Hi all. I used to be a regular poster on here a few years ago, noted mainly for my insane beers ☺ This was taken just before I pitched the yeast in last years Christmas beer. Using two of the Safale yeasts, this brewed out to almost 1010, giving a final alcohol rating of 16.2%. I started off...
