    Hoegaarden Rosee Recipe

This weekend, my missus fell in love with Hoegaarden Rosee, citing it as a new personal favourite. Would anyone happen to have a recipe? I've searched all the usual sites but drawn a blank

    Thermometer recommendations please

Aye up. Its my birthday next week and I've been asked for some present suggestions. I think I'd like a new thermometer, but dunno which one to suggest. Do I just plump for a Thermapen or are there some other options I should be considering? I like the idea of positioning a probe in my BIAB...

    Tim Taylor’s Porter

Hi. Does anyone have a recipe for Timothy Taylor’s Porter (not Poulters Porter, just the regular one) Its my Dad’s favourite and it’s now only brewed to order, so I’d like to have a crack myself.

    Urn conversion

Has anyone got any idea if I could convert this to have a stainless ball valve and external sight glass? The tap and sight glass are currently a single moulded unit but there appears to be fixing nuts on the inside. It works ok as a HLT but it’s a ball ache having to decant into a jug, so I’d...

    Final Gravity question

What’s the main reason for not reaching an intended FG? My second AG (Greg Hughes Milk Stout) hit the OG numbers but has been in the fermentation fridge at the recommended 20degs for 2 weeks and has only got down to 1.024 (tested over 4 days) of the target of 1.018 I’m not too bothered about...

    Batch Priming Bugger Up

I think I might have buggered up the batch priming of my first all grain. In brief, when I bottled, I didn’t quite fill the last one so I thought I’d have a cheeky snifter. It was so sweet it made me gag; it was like syrup. This leads me to suspect that when I transferred the beer from the FV...

    Transfer to bottling bucket...help required

I'd like to be in a position to post answers, rather than a constant barrage of questions, so apologies for another one. When I transfer from the FV to a bottling bucket, no matter how much I try, I always get little bubbles forming on the top of my beer. Is a little oxidisation normal /...

Can I keep the lid on

I’ve just tested my shiny new 33l brew kettle on my wok burner and managed to JUST about get my tapwater up to boiling. It’s not an aggressive boil but the thermo reads 100 and there’s some roll. I think I’m on the edge of what my 4kw ring can give. Am I right to assume that, whilst I know not...

    STC-1000 sensor cable extention

The sensor cable I have is only 1m and is too short to route through the drain hole in my fermentation fridge. Can I extend the cable with a bit of solder and some bell wire? If so, will the cable length have any adverse effects on accuracy? Cheers.

    Temp sensor position

I've just put my first brew in my newly made fermentation fridge. I've positioned the temp sensor against the side of the FV, under a couple of layers of bubble wrap. I've also seen people put it in a separate plastic bottle filled with sanitiser. Is one more beneficial than the other?

    Throw away yeast

In his book “Brew” James Morton states that his number one piece of advice to a kit brewer is to throw away the accompanying yeast and buy a new packet. Is this something that people actually do?

    Aye up

Just a little introduction..... I'm Damo and I like drinking beer and riding bikes. I'm from South Yorkshire. I've done a few brew kits and have, so far, been underwhelmed. So, I'm looking to move onto all grain BIAB for some better results. Cheers for having me.

    My first kettle

Hi. I'm looking to get into all grain brewing and I'm struggling with all the choices of brew kettle. Being a Yorkshireman, I want to spend as little as possible but also want to buy sommat decent. I've been looking at these two recently. Other than the false bottom, can someone explain the...
