    water filter

Does anybody know where I can get hold of a filter housing quickly? I bought this on ebay almost 2 weeks ago but it's not arrived and the seller is completely igoring my emails and phone calls -even though he promised he'd send it next day delivery last monday - f**king a***hole. I've got a...

    Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Mild

Thanks, I wanted to make the height of the sparge manifold adjustable and the clothes peg is doing a good job in stopping it slipping too low.

    Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Mild

I've brewed this beer on a number of occasions and really like it, so I decided to do another but this time to up the volume to 50 litres. Here's the recipe (from BYO British real ale doubled up) 13 Kg of grain Checking the mash temp Temp not far off Equipment all set up and ready...

    Mini Bar

Thanks for the comments. I do have a bar in the sitting room with a couple of fonts - this is mainly for setting up at someone else's place. Looks a bit better than those party type dispensing taps you can buy.

    Mini Bar

Been thinking of building one of these for a while now - something you can use when you have brewed beer for a party or another event. Finally got round to it this week - the taps I bought from ebay a year or so ago for £17 (each) which I thought was a bargain as they are completely stainless...

    New Year Blonde

Nevermind Bishopsfinger I understand. I never let my wife know the true cost of the things that I buy for this hobby and she's not too keen on me smelling the house out when I brew, but she's away at the moment that's why I'm going to get another sneaky brew on before she gets back.

    New Year Blonde

Hi Navin, it's 15/10 - 22/15 would be better though. I bought it off ebay but it was shipped from the states. The internal pipe is convoluted to help heat transfer - don't know where you can get this. Here's how it arrived Here's a closeup of the ends of the copper pipes I put some standard...

I think the make of the water boiler is parry and it is a 15mm ball valve that I replaced the standard tap with.

    New Year Blonde

Hi Bishopsfinger, welcome to home brewing it's great fun. Most of my kit was obtained from all over the place really - that's the beauty of the internet I suppose, it allows you to purchase products from anywhere in the world. You might have seen reference to a company called Nordic Optical in...

    New Year Blonde

Yeah I realise it's a bit chilly outside DF but I've had too many things go walkies from my back yard to trust putting anything out there. Plus another problem with lagering is the amount of time needed to do it and I don't usually have enough patience for it - I'll just condition as I normally...

    New Year Blonde

Thanks guys. My brewery has been constructed from ideas/observations gained from reading this forum. It's a great source of information and inspiration - not sure it's good for my liver though :?

    New Year Blonde

Hi Guys, made a brew a couple of days ago - the first of this year (first of many hopefully). I didn't really have any fixed plans on a type of ale I just wanted to use up some ingredients that were getting a little old - mainly the hops (perle and goldings). I decided to try a koelsch style...

SS Conicals at a reasonable price

I don't have any more information at the moment. The guy I emailed has been importing stuff from China for the last 3 years but he normally supplies breweries with much bigger versions of these, so I would expect the quality to be pretty good. It's the first time he will be importing stuff for...

SS Conicals at a reasonable price

Regarding SS conicals I was in contact with a uk company that will be importing a batch of conicals from china next week. The sizes range from 20L to 100L the largest should cost around £450. It's a lot of dosh but they look very nice.

    New Stuff

Yeah it's similar to a brupaks boiler but it has an electronic thermostat so it will maintain a set temperature. If it was a little bigger (say 50L) I'd be really happy with it but its only 30L and I would struggle to get any more than 9Kg of grain in it.

    New Stuff

Sorry for not replying earlier guys - I was out getting drunk last night and have only just got home. The disconnects I got from here and the hose I got from here . This hose looks to have gone up in price I am sure I got it for around £6.50 a metre - unfortunately I had to buy 20 metres of...

    New Stuff

Just done an upgrade by adding a new 100L boiler (thanks Vossy for the how to) 2 scotsman pumps and connected everything with SS quick disconnects. I tried it out last night and using pumps takes a little bit of getting used to but overall the brew went quite well. The boiler seems massive in...

    Imperial Stout - first post

Thanks, I bought the mash tun/boiler from http://www.brouwland.com/ . I was working in Brussels last year and on my final weekend there I drove over to the shop to have a look around. It's an amazing place with some great equipment. Anyway I was like a kid in a candy store so I had to buy...

    Imperial Stout - first post

Wow Aleman, that is a big brew - I'll have to upgrade my system before I can mash 12.5 Kg of grain, but sadly no room at my place just at the moment. I'll just have to wait until we move to a larger house (with a garage or cellar) then I can have a larger more permanent setup.
