    brew belt melt

Had a brew belt round a FV the other night , in the morning the inner wires had melted through the orange outer sheath and fused all the plastic . Not amused . First time I have used one NOT on a glass DJ or without a timer plug . Wont be doing that again . :? :hmm:

    black 40L bins

In asda yesterday I saw that they had a load of 40L bins , big round , tall bucket with flip top lid , for £4 . Very cheap , and they have the recycle triangle with "5" in it which means they are polyprop , I believe , but I dont know if they are food grade or not . On a recent fact finding...

    plastic bucket boiler insulation

I am in process of making a plastic bucket into a boiler with a kettle element , all that is fine , no problems (so far!) but I am spoilt for choice on the insulation . I choose to insulate as it gives me potentially less heat loss and quicker boil as well as the option of holding a temp more...

Krausen yeast for lager bottles ?

I am having worries about the next batch of lager to be bottled . The Coopers Draft which was made as a lager is coming from the bottles flat since it needs to be served chilled . ideal prime for dark lager

I accidentally made a batch of extract based dark lager , OG 1050 , FG 1012 . When I say accidentally , I mean the dark part , not that I tripped over the cat and made some lager as I fell . It has fermented with its lager yeast , sat in a secondary and been fined . Now I plan to transfer to a...

Just stopped in the local for a half , Roche in cornwall , and they had a new seasonal beer on ,rocking rudolph . So , nothing loath , I had a half ....or tried to - it was vile .
