Hops, my first go at harvesting Rhyzomes, now preped.

Well here's 2 of mine from Jim. Got nothing on the Fuggles - might have to put that one back inside. I planted all of mine horizontally in seedling compost. Bramling Cross: Goldings: Next, I'll find a nice spot for these against a south facing fence, and I'll cut the bottoms from the pots...

    Aquarium thermostat

It would during winter. I think during the coming months you'd be more concerned about keeping your wort cool enough for the correct temp range for a true lager yeast.

We have a new washing machine arriving on Thu and they will be collecting our old one - I think the PCB has gone. Before they take it though, I'd like to strip it for anything useful. What do you recommend me knicking, and any advice on how to do so? Was thinking about the motor for something...

I am very green to home Brewing!! Help!

In fact Moley's inital reply has just prompted me to nip down to my LHBS (who kindly agreed to stay open for an extra 15 mins) and pick up a Brupaks, Pride of Yorkshire, IPA kit. Should move to AG soon (seems to be taking months to get there), but thought that I've got empty FVs when they'd be...

Additional Sugar added to Austrailian Pale Ale Extract

You could use liquid or dried malt extract (LME or DME) instead of or together with sugar. Malt extract will give you a combination of fermentables (giving higher alc%) and non-fermentables (giving body). This may though, put the hop balance slightly out. If you were concerned about this...
