    Admirals Reserve = very promising

My Admirals Reserve had been in the bottle 2 weeks today after a disheartening taster when first bottled so I left one in the fridge to be nice and cool when I got home from work the result : carbonation is spot on, taste is rather fruity and only a hint of the initial twang that was getting...

Bottling day # 2 Admirals Reserve

Sorry to keep bumping this but things just keep coming up ! Couple of people seem to have had the same issue but turns out the beer was just green at first. My concern lies though in the fact it tastes exactly the same as my stout that had been in the bottle for 9 weeks and didn't change taste...

    The Home Brew Twang

In conclusion its really halted my enjoyment of the hobby and other than a current brew that is in the FV I feel that there is little point in simply creating more stock of product that I am not going to enjoy drinking. Time to save up :twisted...

Bottling day # 2 Admirals Reserve

Just bottled it up tried individually priming this time , used half a teaspoon per bottle. I got quiete p*****d off actually as the smell as taste is exactly the same as my stout I chucked due to the same tang. I'm really hoping this may die down, Im really anal about cleaning and sterilising...

I only use wychwood bottles and those labels just float off after about 30 mins in warm water .

    Seasonal brews

That chocolate orange porter sounds bloody lovely ! Porter is usually a bit to rich or me but that really does sound lovely. A sample bottle would be great ;-) haha

    The Home Brew Twang

My experience with the ' twang ' it was like a sharp after taste . Not really unpleasant and if my beer wasnt over carbed I'd probably have still drank it. But is still noticeable nonetheless.

    The Home Brew Twang

you are correct AG brews will be on par if not better than your pub quality stuff , not an AG brewer myself but i know a few who frequent my homebrew shop. I think the thing with us kit brewers is that they is only so much we can do and control , the rest is down to fate and purely out of our hands.

Bottling day # 2 Admirals Reserve

I think this one will be the one to go for as the brew is going into wychwood bottles that hold roughly a pint.
