    MJ Helles - Batch Priming

Thanks for the reply! I worked out I should be using between 150/160g so it’s nice to see I’m not far off! just a quick question, by brewing sugar I assume you mean dextrose right? Thanks

    MJ Helles - Batch Priming

Hi All, I have currently got a Mangrove Jacks Craft Helles in the FV. This is only my fourth kit that I’m doing and apart from my first where I used carbonation drops, I’ve always had kits that supply the priming sugar at the right quantity. The MJ Helles kit doesn’t come with the priming...

    NZ Pilsner Conditioning

Yes, tried a few bottles this weekend with the family and it went down a treat. It wasn’t clear but the taste was good. Looking forward to leaving it a few weeks before trying again

    NZ Pilsner Conditioning

Hi Guys, quick question about the conditioning phase of brewing. I bottled my NZ pilsner two weeks ago and about to move it somewhere cool to condition and clear. My question is, is it worth putting a couple of bottles in the fridge to speed up the conditioning? The reason I ask is that I am...

FV with a tap or not?

Thanks for the reply guys! Tempted to go with the Cheshire Cat approach and do the initial fermentation in a tapless FV and then move into a secondary FV to prime and bottle

FV with a tap or not?

Hi Guys, Just want some of your guys opinions on whether an FV with a tap is better than one without. I used a standard 25l FV from Wilko without a tap or airlock for my first brew. The brew didn’t go so well after some confusion with the instructions but for my second brew (Festival NZ...

    Festival New Zealand pilsner.

Hi, this kit has just arrived and I intend on following the instructions (apart from ignoring the 21L and going to 23L as I saw in another thread that the 21L is a typo.) The kit only has 350g of brewing sugar and another 150g for priming sugar. My question is, is the 350g enough? This is only...

It smells alright. Doesn’t smell like it’s off but haven’t given it a taste yet. I was going to take a reading on Friday (2 weeks from adding yeast) I intend on bottling it rather than moving it into another fermenter and I wasn’t planning on adding dry hops. it’s my first kit so I was planning...

    New member seeking advice!

Hi All, Just an update, I’ve left the beer alone for 10 days now and just had a look and it looks like this. Does this look normal to you? My gut feeling says something isn’t right but I could be wrong! Thanks

I do like an IPA... that may well be the next batch. Do you just follow the instructions in the can or did you change anything? for my Cerveza I did 500g of light spray malt and 500g of brewing sugar

Ok, I thought the 1.032 was low. We will see how it comes out in a couple of weeks. I’ll make sure to give it a better stir on my next batch!

Hi Kelper, thanks for your reply! Ah I’ve read that differently to you. They’re the same instructions. I read it as after 4 to 6 days add the yeast and then wait 4 to 6 days! anyway it doesn’t matter now but will add the yeast at the start for my next batch! Thanks :)

    New member seeking advice!

Hi All, I’m very new to the home brewing game. Been wanting to get on board for quite some time so last week I picked up all the basics from Wilko to start a brew. I went with the Wilko Cerveza lager kit. Followed the instructions which suggested to wait 4-6 days before adding yeast. Not sure...
