Love Brewing Giveaway! - Spiritworks Artisan Flavourings

It's about time I did something with that strange stainless steel object on top of the cupboard. wink... If I'm the lucky one, I'd like: Blood Orange Peaches & Cream Rhubarb & Ginger Sicilian Lemon Pink Gin

Sloes go with ? Suggestions please.

Interesting! I'm not sure where I'd get hold of 90% pure alcohol though. Perish the thoght that I should engage in such nefarious activity as distilling some sugar wash. :D Edit: Just reread and it's 90 degrees, which is 45% ABV. Probably get away with using a strong vodka. Phew! The still I...

Sloes go with ? Suggestions please.

That's the obvious one, and I do like sloe gin, but I've got my wine-making head on at the minute.

Sloes go with ? Suggestions please.

I think we might have a bag of those mixed summer berries lurking in the freezer. I think I'll see if I can find frozen blackberries at the shops.

Sloes go with ? Suggestions please.

I've been given 800 grams of frozen sloes that someone picked last autumn and didn't get round to making sloe gin. Not enogh to make a gallon of sloe wine on their own, but with a similar amont of "other" fruit, might be good. I'm thinking it would probably want to be something on the red...

    Undercarbonated St Peter's Honey Porter

Interesting, and completely different to my understanding of "ullage". I've always called the waste beer that gets tipped out of the drip trays "ullage", having been taught that term by a publican I used to do some bar shifts for as a youngster. He was a tight ba--ard, and used to have the staff...

    Simply export stout

I bottled it two nights ago. It looks good. Fermentation ended at 1.012. I had the compulsory taste of the last knockings left in the syphon tube. It tastes stouty! Strong roasty flavour and something else, which I assume comes from the treacle but doesn't taste of treacle or licquorice. I think...

    NEIPA turned out clear

Forgive my old-fashioned ways, but I'm a fan of clear beers. I certainly wouldn't describe that one as clear, though it is less murky than is usual for that style. As the cloudy beer fans keep telling me, "it's the taste that matters". Enjoy!

What kit beer are you drinking tonight?

Cooper's Australian Pale Ale, brewed with 500g of light spraymalt and 500g of dextrose. very decent pint with a nice dry finish. A little over-carbonated but, served ice-cold, a good alternative to lager. Apologies for the glassware. :D

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

Hmmm, Looks like the dog's bathwater and tastes like sprouts eh? Should make for some fragrant and tuneful duvet-lifting behaviour later.

    Simply export stout

I've just put a Ritchie's Simply Export Stout on to ferment. I've used 500g of dextrose and 500g of Munton's extra dark spraymalt in place of the 1kg of brewing sugar recommended. I've also added half a tin of black treacle. O.G. is 1.044. It's my first stout, so I'm looking forward to seeing...

    Mulled cider

I used some of my this year's home-brewed stuff. It's very acidic, having been made mostly with cookers, due to a shortage of sweet eating apples. You could use any dry cider because you're going to sweeten it with the brown sugar.

    Mulled cider

Well, I've found a way to make my hellishly acidic cider drinkable! Cider, dark brown sugar (lots) cinnamon sticks bay leaves cloves, other spices or flavourings of choice and a good glug of rum or brandy. Chuck it all in a saucepan and heat gently until nearly at the boil but not quite, then...

    Hard pears

The pears ended up on the compost heap. They had started to go mouldy without ripening. Having done some research, it turns out they were some variety of winter pears. Winter pears are picked in November but will not ripen unless they are cold-stored for a couple of weeks. After this, when...

    Dried Blackcurrants?

We don't have Sainsbury's on our little island. No Tesco, No Asda, No Lidl either. A limited range of Waitrose stuff is available from one of our retailers and a limited range of Morrisons from the other.

    Dried Blackcurrants?

Oh well, won't be doing that one. :( They cancelled my order. Due to "import difficulties" they didn't have them in stock.

    AlderneyBrew's Brewdays.

Coriander sounds an interesting tweak. I can imagine that suiting a Biere Blonde well.
