One-way ticket to Rwanda for some UK asylum seekers

Not sure why you put that to me as I never claimed people are illegal? People aren't illegal but their actions and false testimony can amount to criminality. So 28% might get refused but that of course means 72% succeed and of those who don't how many of them appeal and are eventually granted...

One-way ticket to Rwanda for some UK asylum seekers

That's true. What is illegal is perjury before an Immigration court. No one objects to genuine asylum claimants. Unfortunately there are also documented cases of crib sheets being handed out by people traffickers to their customers to strengthen their some time bogus claims. It is very difficult...

Syphoning from tub to keg - any tips?

One or two who've followed my progress will know I've had my first ever stout kit brewing for the last week and I think I am now ready to Syphon into a smaller container. I have a keg which is about five litres with a tap. Is this suitable adjusting measures of sugar pro rata to this volume? I...

Fermentation tub, to fasten lid tight or not?

I've set away my first ever 23 litre tub with a stout kit this afternoon and left for the initial 7 days in the cupboard under the stairs. Now it might be my imagination but the lid seems to be pushed out as if the air is expanding to force the container lid up, is there any risk this could...

    Sterilisation of kit

Ok thanks. There's no hole so I'll forget that I imagine. I do have a hydrometer?

    Sterilisation of kit

I have some tubing which the Wilko guide said I needed. Is that the air lock? How and where does this fit into the process?

    Sterilisation of kit

great thanks. Do you need to use your chemsan immediately before the boil? Is that the way to avoid contamination or can you do it the day before your boil? Also with it being no rise do you not dry the tub and actually leave dregs of chemsan in the tub?

    Sterilisation of kit

Thanks for that tip. With Chemsan, can you use it on the fermentation tub out of a spray bottle? Do you dilute it?

    Sterilisation of kit

I bought a load of Wilko kit yesterday and am keen to get cracking with some brewing. One thing I didn't buy was sterilisation agent of any kind. Would you need to use this with brand new kit? I figured it's maybe no different to buying new plastic drinks bottles and that maybe a quick rinse...
