Add vanilla to plum wine?

I've got this so far:
4lbs plums halved and stoned
75g raisins
crushed campden tablet
5g root ginger, thinly sliced
2 cloves
1/4tsp citric
1/4tsp tartaric

It'll get pectolase later and about 2.5lb sugar before the yeast goes in.
I'm thinking of putting a bit of vanilla pod in it. Good idea? How much to use?

NB I already have 2 gallons of this I won't monkey with. This recipe worked last year.
