Extra dark crystal smells delicious.

Mash on at 9:20. Hit target of 66C after a bit of adjusting.

No, just 5gal. Total grain bill is just over 5kg. That's only a 10L bucket on the left of the pic.

All done. Ended up at 1045 which is well below target of 1052. Not sure what's gone wrong here. Was a bit over on volume but only by half a litre or so.

That looks very nice! The wort seems to be amber instead of brown. Regardless, it will be an awesome pint!

Do you mean the stuff in the trial jar or the stuff in the pint glass ? The pint is one of my earlier brews. An offering to the beer gods on pitching the yeast. The beer gods weren't here so I drank it for them.

I think I know why I finished up 6 degrees under target SG.

1. A bit over volume - somewhere between 0.5L and 1L worth a couple of points.
2. Calculated recipe in Beersmith with an efficiency of 72% which is probably abit optimistic for a beer of this strength. 70% would be more like it.
3. Default potential extract for Motter in Beersmith is set too high. Should be 1.037, was at 1.038.
