I got an old freezer and was using it to place in corny kegs and mature / lager / carbonate my beer. I managed to fit some items internally and all was well. then i hit a chiller coil with a screw. Yes i used the word duck with a massive capital F. Those following my insta would have seen the fun i had last weekend........

any how. is their a way to tell where the chiller coils are so i can avoid drilling them / sticking a screw through it?

I have only ever put holes in the plastic step that covers the compressor but I think my method could possibly help you. I use an old soldering iron. It easily goes through any plastic and insulation but should not damage any cooling coils.
If I have misunderstood your problem and this will not help I apologise.
