Hi All
Just a quick question.. relatively new to all this brewing thing but just got in to Extract brewing and I'm reading conflicting recommendations on the boil times is it 60 mins or 90 mins?
Bear with me lots more questions to come.

from what I recall, 90 mins gives better utilisation of the hops and gives a better hot break resulting in a more stable beer, 60 mins gives good utilisation and means a shorter brew day. I usually do 60 mins (all grain system) for the sake of convenience as I have three kids, reserving the 90 mins boil for special brews.

If poss do a 90 min boil, unless recipe says less.

However lots of folks including myself manage with a 60 min boil due to a not too good a boiler.

If you do a 60 min boil you will have to use more hops as you need a longer boil to utilize the bittering AA's, less efficient in that respect.

Thanks very much guys!!........time to get another brew on then.
