For this brewday I was joined by Muddydisco and Corby Brewer.
The pictures are by MD cos I asked him to when he eventually turned up, so no pics of grain or doughing in!

Pale malt – 6.5 lbs
Crystal malt – 0.5 lbs
Flaked maize – 0.5 lbs
Demerara sugar – 1 lb
Goldings – 1.4 oz
Brambling Cross – 0.7 oz (at 75 mins with 2 tsps Irish moss)
Brew lenght - 5 gals

In the HLT
1 tsp gypsum
0.5 tsp Epsom
0.25 tsp Chalk

Yeast culture from a pint of Bass


Mash Tun floating in remaining Strike water held at 150 degs for 90 mins by mechanacal thermostat.

Hmm ... neither have I but it looks like a great way of maintaining constant temp.... given me a few ideas!

It works very well EB, it's my old and tested version of HERMS :whistle:
The original idea came from Dave Line's BBB.
The HLT is marked at "Strike" and "Float" levels, the Mash tun can hold 8 lbs of grain.

Hmmmm - I think this method deserves an acronym itself :hmm:

I'll start the competition with this:

Can anyone better that :wha:

I did also consider
CLOBSMATS but I better not tell you what it stands for :lol:
