Brew on the go - need a quick answer.

Hi everyone ,

I've just this minute put a new kit on the go, but I need a quick answer & your input.

Kit: Thomas Cooper Pilsner - 23L
1 x 1kg bag of Muntons enhancer (spray malt & dextrose) - with a little added sugar :whistle: .

I wanted a slightly stronger lager, so instead of making the full 23L, I opted for 18L. My OG reading is 1056. I'm looking at about 6.5%, would that be right? Or do I have an abnormal OG reading for a kit, it does seem higher than the other kits I've done, but I've always done the full 23L or 20L.

Your reading sounds right but your calculations are off, Did you use the calculator above on the forum??? http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/calculators.php
My reckoning you'll end up with a FG of around 1012 -1014 so around 5.7 - 5.8%

Hi MD,

Thanks, I did have a look & made a guess on the FG based on previous kits (a bit of a difference I know), sounds like a good alcohol content to me though :lol: .

The owner of my LHBS seems a bit miserable, just wanted to get in & out as fast as I could :lol: .
