If I have a beer (any including commercial) in a glass then once finished leave the empty glass overnight. In the morning smell the empty glass dregs - is this smell oxidation of the alcohol?

Its likely other components in the beer itself (not the alcohol) which become oxidised causing it to smell. Leave a little more in the glass overnight and then sample it the morning to find out what stale/oxidised beer tastes like.

Might try it. the smell reminds me of Wetherspoons
