just thought I'd ask, but I assume that as well as collecting yeast from a primary ferment (trub and all) then washing etc to get the yeast back for a new starter etc., can I also collect the yeast and do the same when I've transferred the beer from primary to the intermediate fv before bottling?

I had a decent yeast sediment in the intermediate as well as the primary, and wondered if both were as good as each other?

yes you can do it that way when your fv is nearly empty swirl whats left around till it mixes then pour into a sterile 2 litre coke bottle then put in fridge you will find the yeast settles at the bottom when that happens pour off most of the beer and leave an inch on top of the yeast transfer to smaller sterile bottle and store in fridge ready to make a starter.
