Hey guys,

I'm wanting to brew a bitter. For the most part I put together my own recipes, but thought I'd try reaching out to the group to see if someone has a favorite recipe that they have brewed before with good results.

I'll be happy to document my brew and give feedback on the recipe.

This is my house bitter

It is really good but gets better with age I try and age it for 3 months before starting drinking it. I had a bottle which was a year old and it was the best beer in the world IMHO

It is basically Fullers ESP tweaked with wheat malt addition as I am a northerner.

Big Kenny was always a forum favorite, you will find that in Recipes.

Looks like a winner!

I'll probably need to double up on the Challenger as I don't have any Northdown, but everything else I've got in stock. What yeast do you usually go with? WY1968 / WL002?

Yeast I use Nottingham works fine for me. The northdown and challenger can be swaped, I have done that before when I was out of one (can't remember which) . Even though it is a clone of esp it doesn't really taste like it but it does have similarities but that is ok for me as it is my beer, what I want to do though is make it as good as the last one it is a great beer.

A regular offender on tap at my bar.
