so a zany scheme just came to me...

The pro use glycol chillers attached to stainless steel vessel to control temperature. Could it be possible an immersion chiller like device could be placed in fermenters to lower temperature? Naturally, anti-contamination and anti-oxidization measures would have to be taken but for those of us who lack the space for kegereators could this serve as a cheap work around?

:wha: ...or am I crazy

Not crazy but... If you do a search on the forum you will find lots of good info on the same look for fv or fermentation chiller or peltier and you'll see lots of posts/pictures of that

yep..

heres my 80l thermopot fermentor lid. the hex is chilled by a maxi shelf chiller and heated via a 400w inline pipe heater, both controlled by an stc1000 not yet been used, one bit needed still on its way from china - a 40C thermal switch to strap onto the heat pipe to ensure the heating isnt ever too harsh.
