Gentlemen,

After making batch after batch of edwort's apfelwein i have ended up with these 23l vessels they deliver the apple juice to me in. They have the little recycling 2 in a triangle on and they transported my apple juice

I realise i can't make a full batch to due head space and I will have to bung and airlock the lids or fit a blowoff.

Can anyone think of any other reason I cant use these as fermenting vessels?

None whatsoever, and I've used vessels like that myself :thumb:

If they have been used to transport apple juice then they must be food grade.

Start with 18-20 litres and then gradually top up as fermentation quietens down.

If you have or can get something like a 30mm diameter holesaw you can fit a standard drilled bung and airlock into the screw cap.

They can be a PITA to clean, but as they were free you can afford to use them once or twice and then recycle them.
