Morgans dockside stout kit

Hi brewers. Has anyone tried the morgans dockside stout kit? I started it 12 days ago with 1kg extra dark spraymalt and I sampled it today its 1.020. I'll leave it another week and sample again. My question is that given that the spraymalt is not fully fermentable what sort of fg should I be aiming for?

Not yet, but I've got two Morgans Dockside Stout kits here that arrived yesterday - dented but hopefully good to brew! The instructions on the can mention a target of 1005 or below, although that does seem on the low side for a stout. 1020 sounds high for an FG and I would think closer to 1010 would be acceptable, as long as you make sure it has been that for a few days and isn't still dropping. Do you know what the temperature is? The instructions suggest fermenting at 22C to 30C, which I think is warmer than most people go for (I generally ferment at 20C for the first week and then increase it a bit in the second week once the main fermentation activity has finished).

Pirate_Pete seems to have experience of Morgans kits so maybe he can help.

Cheers mate. My temps are around 20. I'm happy to leave it longer to finish. I hope the 1.020 is coincidence and not stuck. I'll check again in a couple of days. My morgans old ale finished at 1.014 again using dark spray malt and is a beautiful pint.

If you can control the temperature it may be worth bumping it up by a couple of degrees to encourage the yeast to crack on with the job.

I can't really control the temp but I can give it as long as it needs. If it hasn't moved in a couple of days I'll rouse it and maybe move it to somewhere warmer. Cheers for the advice mate

If you don't have a heating device/control you can always stick a blanket (or similar) around the fermenter where it is.

Just about to make this, am I best using dark spray malt or or the darker one. Guessing kg instead of brewing sugar. I have a Morgan's Mexican lager on at the moment used light spray malt with that one both bought on clearance from brew2bottle £7.85 both dented but well in date.
