from a " factual " tv program to be aired soon

quote.....

It is estimated that 1.4m older people in Britain are drinking too much, leading to more hospital admissions.

Well we payed for the bloody hospitals ! we have a right to use them !

If its a choice of drinking myself into oblivion or sitting staring at a wall in an old folks home, or being " entertained " by bloody Bruce Forsythe, pass me a bottle......

no its the opening gambit in the minimum price for units of alcohol.

:thumb: You're right there - and Pims!

I'm officially sick of politics, even stopped watching the news because of it.

politics is ok its the weak ineffective and often corrupt politicians that's the problem.

I find one invariably leads to the other and visa versa. :D

They want you to drink less so that you die YOUNGER - thus reducing the pension and care costs :thumb:

You will live longest if you drink a fairly healthy amount of alcohol, and shortest if you drink none, or are genuinely an alcoholic.

Around double the governments advised limits gives you the longest lifespan, according to the mortality tables the actuaries in pension companies use to calculate your life expectancy, and therefore the cost of your pension :thumb:
