Plum wine - demijohns?

Hi all. First post. Making cider when the apples are ready but for now on the plum wine - question is probably transferable.

Is there any reason I shouldn’t rack off just into another large volume container rather than buying demijohns? Just seems for space and ease would be easiest to rack over to another large fermentation bucket leaving the sediment.

Any thoughts?
 
Welcome to the forum. :thumba:

Could i ask why you are thinking of racking from a FV (fermenting vessel) to DJ's (demijohns) as you are making more work for yourself, i either rack from FV to FV or DJ to DJ.

Long term ageing may be better in DJ's so that may be a time when you would go from FV to DJ but its not something i have done.
