Really stupid question

I bought a twin lever corker to bottle my wine, and was wondering if there is some special technique to get it to work properly?
I've gone back to the cheapy plastic push in corker as the twin lever one wasnt pushing the corks all the way in. Is it just ****?

I recall using one of these a long while ago, did you soak you corks?

The video says to use #8 or #9 straight corks, is that what you used?

No idea what type of corks used. Was a bag from homebrewshop where I bought the corker.

I did soak the corks. Then read that they didnt need soaked, so just quickly rinsed the next attempt.
