It turns out that Tasmanian oak is not oak at all but eucalyptus, a hard wood great for furniture and flooring, but hardly suitable for maturing wine, I would have thought. Anyway, I'll not buy anything Australian after the disgraceful behaviour of their cricket captain. Threatening ABH is actually a crime in the UK!
Also American oak chips are more suitable for bourbon than wine.

I enjoy cricket, but only since Ashes 2005, when it became a tantalising mega spectacle, incomparable to any other sport event, with the final outcome uncertain until close to the end of a 30 days battle to marginally defeat the unassailable titans of the game. They were a pushover in the summer but ours was a lacklustre performance. This well deserved defeat at the 'Gabbatoir' puts life back into the game. The world looks on!
