It turns out that Tasmanian oak is not oak at all but eucalyptus, a hard wood great for furniture and flooring, but hardly suitable for maturing wine, I would have thought. Anyway, I'll not buy anything Australian after the disgraceful behaviour of their cricket captain. Threatening ABH is actually a crime in the UK!
Also American oak chips are more suitable for bourbon than wine.
