Hi. Just bought a wherry microbrewery kit. For that beer what would be a suitable temperature range whilst the wort is fermenting?

I don't have a heater but having read some postings on the forum it seems the fermentation will go ok without one as long as it doesn't get too warm/cold. Is that right?

Thanks for any answers.

Adri

Hi and welcome, 18-20c is the ideal temperature. Below about 17c the yeast will go to sleep above 23c you may start to get off flavours.

It's important to note that we are talking about the temperature of the beer, not the room temperature. Beer will increase 3'c or so during the vigorous initial part of fermentation, so try and keep it somewhere 18c and you should be fine :thumb:
