i recently tried to measure the S.G. of a mixture i made a few days ago - viewtopic.php?f=39&t=17941 (original thread)

there seems to be a layer of sludge ontop of the mixture which has the likeness of a smoothie mixture. does anyone know what this could be? i measured my S.G. and it has dropped 0.015 since the last time i checked at the beggining. it is quite fizzy if i move the mixture at all, it seems to be letting off a lot of carbon-dixoide, am i doing this is all right ? will this be fine

Any help is welcome! :D

Cheers

Andy

Perfectly normal, the layer of ‘sludge’ is just the fruit pulp from the juices which is being carried to the top by the carbon dioxide. Give the jar a gentle swirl every now and then to get things mixed up again.

Oh, and quit poking it with a hydrometer, every time you do that is an opportunity for infection.

The yeasties are busy, leave them to get on with it :thumb:
