ever since first sample this has had an unpleasant flavour which i can only describe as some kind of bubblegum taste, was hoping it might fade in time and the nelsons would shine thru but so far no joy ,has anyone out there had owt like this before? :wha:

BUbblegum - Fermented too warm or a wild yeast ala Belgian Beers

Bottle it and call it a Belgian Blonde and no one will know the difference ;)

The "bubblegum " flvour is most often caused by fermenting at too high a temp. But at 20oC your S-04 will easily cope with that.
Are you sure it was fully fermented out in primary? 7 days is a bit short for me.

7 days in fv is usually ok for me especially with s-04 [used to leave it 5 days with no probs] fg was down to 1010 , gonna leave it another week then do a side by side test 22l went in barrell 5l in bottles
