I made a yeast starter but in the end did not need it. I was told that this could be kept in the fridge for use at a later date. Is this correct or do I need to throw it away? If I can keep it is it best in the fridge and for how long can i keep it?, I'll probably need it in about 2 weeks, and do i need to do anything with it before I use it?

Lots of questions i know: any info gratefully received, thanks

If you intend to use it in two weeks then that should be fine. I wouldn't go much longer than that though. After that, I'd use it to make another starter. Just keep it cold and covered (not sealed) in the fridge.

Well, if there's a problem with the yeast and it's not viable, I'd rather find that out via a starter that never started than a beer that didn't start.
