Its fermented at 18C-20C according to MJ packed instruction.
This is one of the strangest fermentations I've had with a yeast. First of all it had a long lag time and took a while to start fermenting. Then I thought it had stuck as it had a gravity reading of above 20 after two weeks in the FV, so I gave it a rouse which got it going again no problems but now the krausen wont drop

Homebrew dose seem to have a habit of throwing things at you just when you think you've got it sussed.
Looking forward to hear how this one turns out.

I've just took a gravity reading and it's down to 1.010/1.011 with a predicted 1.007. I'm hoping to rack it to a secondary at the weekend, for a week to drop the yeast out as I have no ability to cold crash. I of course drank the gravity sample (waste not, want not) The yeast dont half seem to accentuate the hops/bitterness

If you rack it later today then nature should "cold crash" it for you!

According to the Met Office, Millwall will be down to -1 tomorrow night.

Not ideal, but at least it will be on its way! :thumb: :thumb:

Correction, putting your brew outside overnight will defiantly cold crash it !

Right, over the last 2 days did...
23-25 litre cwtch tiny rebel kit
25ish litre tropical tc
25ish litre Cherry tc
25ish litre Raspberry tc

All tc's were after Roddys recipes except juice was sourced at different shops etc and I used Gervin G3 yeast of which I have never used

It's been over 24 hours and no bubbles yet :/ it was cold when I pitched the yeast on all 4 brews but they are in an insulated outside building so am a little concerned

At the moment I have the heater on in there to try and get me beauty's going!

But in other news my fiery ginger beer is complete as it's fermented out under 1000, I would like more ginger kick tho so was thinking of blending half a kilo to a kilo of ginger with a little bit of water and stirring it in then leaving it in the house a few more days, any advice much appreciated as I already have some ginger that I bought today !

I brewed a sad beer. My mother just passed away in the States at age 67. No close family other than me... half way around the world trying to get everything ready. If I didn't brew, I'd loose my mind. Now I'm at the airport in Tokyo getting ready to board. I would type the recipe but it was a fog. I know I mashed it high, 69 so we'll see the body on that!
Well, brew on guys. Got ten days of hell.

Sorry for your loss and safe journey.

As I have a bad back there's no way I could lift 25L so I will rack it into 2x10L and 1x5L FV's to make it easier for me to move from the kitchen floor to the kitchen work surface when it comes time to package

Could you lift it enough to put it in an ice bath ?

There's no way I could lift a full FV off the ground at any height. Full stop.

If I really and truly wanted to cold crash a full FV. I'd just use my brew bag (having placed the empty FV in it first then filled it) and a huge amonut of frozen ice bottles. It'd take a lot though as 2L drops the temp by 1 degree C

..............

I fitted this about a year ago. It's worked okay but I need thicker rope as the arthritis in my hands gets worse. (Another A Round Tuit job!)

What makes it so easy is that I am pulling down with my arms rather than lifting up with my back (scoliosis plus arthritis). :thumb:

I have studied old age and although it can be a pain (literally) at times, the alternative of dying young never really appealed to me!

Nice set up. I brew in my kitchen (and dont have a garage) so have nowhere to rig up any type of pully system.

I'm moving over to small batch brewing now anyway as I like the speed and ease of the smaller amounts
