    Bones oatmeal stout

Having recieved a bottle of bones stout and promising a review, although I'm not too experienced in this here is my best shot. Opening the bottle gave only a small pfffftttt and was pleasantly suprised when it poured beatifully with a perfet creamy very tight white head on an extremely dark...

    Help with gas

Cheers Aleman, I assumed shaking was not ideal. And I must declare my interest here as I'm looking into force carbonating at 5+bbl lengths, so shaking is not necessarily the easiest option. Although the 'plan' is more in the viability/ development stage at the moment and on a part time basis...

    Help with gas

I was also thinking along the lines of caronating at high pressure (30psi plus .... I hear you scream...buckets of foam) but, with knowledge of the rates of change of gas transfer, stepping down to the correct pressure at the right time. Leaving to settle for a shorter while than originally...

    Help with gas

There's definately some good reading there, thanks for that link. His empirical length of time to carbonate is 4 days....with a bit of shaking.

    Help with gas

Afternoon all, How is the rate of gas absorption in a liquid calculated, or is this knowledge usually gained empirically? What I want to do is to gas up my beer in a corny, drop it down to 0 degrees-ish and use a CPBF, but wondered how I know when the correct amount of co2 has been absorbed...

A real THBF brewers brewday.........work in progress.

Here's one to add that actually happened to me on Saturday. When you empty the trub and hops out the bottom of the boiler (I have a large hole with a blind flage in it, which I can unbolt for this) into the tray (cat litter tray with some holes drilled in it) underneath to strain the liquid...

3000TH MEMBER SOON! Free Tankard to the winner!

I hope the next three actually post something then to confirm they are real, even if it is "how many bubbles per minute...". Only teasing. Seriously though, I bet the 3000th will not know what hit him. Does he win anything?

3000TH MEMBER SOON! Free Tankard to the winner!

But now it's getting close you may have to consider the weekly pattern also. I bet there are far more new members towards the end of the week and over the weekend than there is during the early part of the week. So if there are around 42 new members per week, then I would assume that around 32...

    The malt miller

You can see cached internet pages by first googling the site and a keyword for example: http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=site%3Athemaltmiller.co.uk+contact and click on "cached pages" in the search results to get his contact number if the site is down. Or if you change the keyword from "contact" to...

    NPT threads

Yep. Npt are hard to source. Just thought I'd put it down so no one else tries to source the quoted npt threads when they don't have to it seems. That is if they have the same sensor as me.

The Big Bang Brewing Co - A Brewery Build

It happened, but no pics as it was an absolute catalogue of disasters, so didn't have the time, patience or inclination this time. The crazy news is I will be attempting it again next week, with the intention of stocking up for Christmas, so will try to have the camera then. Made good beer but...

    NPT threads

Right then....these are the PT100 sensors from virtual village. I have measured the thread with a vernier and this produced a measurement of 7.96mm over 6 turns of the thread. Unfortunately this is all by eye so not ideal but I think it may just about give an accurate enough reading without...

    NPT threads

Yes, the confusing part though is when they were bought it stated that.they were npt, although, as you say a bsp nut fits them. I may get the vernier on it at the weekend.

    NPT threads

I found a vacuum part pipe end end cap fitting with an NPT thread and bought it although it needed the centre drilling out of it....this came but at tthe same time since i had an order in with BES at the same time added a 1/4" bsp backnut to it. The Bsp backnut seems to fit the thread although I...
