Hello all ,

Made this starter from sediment I washed at the bottom of two fermenters running simultaneously. Was safale 04 . Fed it some DME in 300ml boiled water 2 days ago . Planning to pitch in 24 hrs . Does it look viable ? Should I pour the lot in or tip off the beer first ? Any input appreciated.

Andy

Looks fine to me, as there seems to be plenty of active yeast.

Probably a "better" approach than my method of using 250ml of trub from the bottom residue of a previous brew.

I've reverted to half the trub in the bottom or skimming yeast off the top depending on when it coincides with my next batch . Much easier than keeping yeast in the fridge .
