water treatment

Hi all, just been thinking after reading a piece on water treatment, and think i may have been doing it wrong for some time, when using the water treatment calculator i have put in the amount of water i start with, (ie i always fill my hlt to full 49 litres) and put that figure in the calculator as that is the amount of water i am treating not the amount i will actually use, is this correct or should i put in the amount of water that i will actully use, hope this makes sense.

i would say the amount of water u would use is more appropriate but either will be close enough i imagine
