Hello all,

I'm sure there is a wide range of hobbies here and one I've recently picked up is photography. I plan one day to be able to take some pretty decent pictures of stars (astroscapes) and landscapes. I thought I'd open this thread to document my journey through photography and generate discussion with others on how I can improve and for them to post pictures of their own for our enjoyment.

Here is one from the other night, the only photo I was truly happy with out of fifty odd - barring the light pollution. Shot with a Nikon D3200 and 50mm f/1.8 prime with a 10 sec exposure.

This is a compressed JPEG version roughly 4mb from 36mb .

Happy photographing! ;)

I've got the opportunity (weather and alcohol permitting) to attach my D300 to the end of one of these in a couple of weeks time...

@Calumscott, I shall have a browse of that over the next few days. I did write up a lengthy reply but it seems to have fallen off the forum or didn't get committed for some reason or other. Anyway, I look forward to seeing the images when you get to play with the telescope!

I like photographing my kitchen alchemies (usually Bread) unfortunately only have my crapberry as a camera.

Working on the company finance director, and chief child education welfare officer that a camera would be useful addition to my business and the future workforces education.

I took up walking and photography when I got diagnosed diabetic. Plenty of walking with a big pack on your back helped guard against high blood sugars.

Wildlife ( native ) and Nature was my theme....Made some good friends and saw some grand places throughout the country...

James - I can recommend leaving the shutter open for a while with your night sky shots to get some star trails. Here's one I did one on my patio which is about a 60 minute exposure.
