She got a dualit 3 in 1 last year. Now I'm playing

Can anyone give me good sites to buy nice beans and advise on how to get a good grind etc.

Seems I like less bitter or acidic ones.

Found coffeepods. Com good bloke

Thanks chaps

You are going to roast your own next

Some vids on youtube

For a good grind you need a good grinder.
The Iberital MC2 is about as good as they come without breaking the bank. You can get them from HappyDonkey.

For coffee I get all mine from York Coffee Emporium..

Another vote for the iberital mc2, use it at home and it's great. If it's a little above your budget rather than scrimping consider a hand grinder like the porlex tall Which I use twice a day and is great, especially if u travel. Also look at aeropress which is excellent for making a great cup of coffee (seriously check the reviews online). Beans wise I haven't ordered any online yet as I work near a lot of good coffee shops in London so can get them there but one of the highest rarest is hasbean. A good few coffee shops also use theirs (coffeesmith collective do) and they seem to have a wide selection so something go to suit your taste hopefully. If you want to avoid bitterness be mindful of your water temp and length of time you leave the coffee on the beans.

you wont regret your journey into the world of coffee, beware is can get a bit obssesive ! or maybe thats just me, as for getting your good grind, there are plenty of good grinders out there and what you would require as a good grind depends on what coffee machine you are using, bit of experimentation required there, also i sometimes find i have to adjust my grind setting slightly depending on what beans i am using. but then my machine is VERY sensitive to grind, ime currently using a La Pavoni europiccola lever arm machine, with gaggia grinder (which i had to modify to get a grind fine enough for the pavoni).
as for beans i often try differant places but always find myself going back to my regular supplier, they have a good selection, they roast to order and you get your beans within 24 hours of roasting usually, here is a link to their website....

I couldn't get my Gaggia grinder to grind the Beans fine enough for my Gaggia classic coffee machine to work properly so ended up buying the Iberital MC2. I also find that different beans do result in me having to adjust the grinder to give me the correct grind for the perfect Espresso shot.

I can't read this thread for fear of spending more money.

No need to read you can just look at the pictures.

Heres a picture of my current set up in the kitchen. Basically just an Iberital MC2 grinder and the Gaggia Classic.

Oh that's just mean, plain mean. I'm going to have to boil the kettle now and subject myself to some coffee which could easily be gravy in disguise.

I'm a cheapskate and have a Hario Mini Slim hand grinder, I use a DeLonghi Espresso machine which uses pressurised baskets. I have to set the grinder to 3 clicks off the finest or it produces a shot of espresso that takes too long. It does require manual work to grind the coffee but at about £25 I understand that it produces a grind fine enough for my needs. I weigh out 12g of beans for each coffee and grind fresh every time.

I am going to have to make a cup of asda's finest instant and look at that picture hoping that that may make it taste better.

What do you coffee guys do for work? I'm thinking about getting a single serve cafetiere for my office, but with everyone else on instant I don't want to be the snob of the office ;)

We have a filter machine and I usually buy Lavazza for the office. Its not bad but what I drink at home knocks spots off.

i couldnt at first, but i used an old set of feeler gauges and made some shims to go under the burr plates resulting in a finer grind, only used the really thin gauges tho, o.o something of a mm, but was enough, didnt think the gaggia classic would have needed it that fine ? i used to have an old gaggia cubika, and it wasnt so fussy regarding grind, for the La Pavoni i need to gring it like flour, so i can pinch it and it stays standing up if you get what i mean, fine grind and light tamp pressure. its a great pastime making coffee isnt it ! lol

If you use the pressurised basket on the Gaggia classic it doesn't need such a fine grind, but also doesn't make such nice Espresso.

I replaced my baskets with the standard unpressurised ones, and usually use the naked portafilter so that requires a very fine grind, like flour. Yes, a very fine grind and a light tamp is the way to go.

I love making decent coffee.

I can recommend Hasbean coffee, www.hasbean.co.uk , good choice and good service. No connection with them other than as a customer :)

I use an aeropress at work. Easily the cheapest and easiest way to get a great cup of coffee?
