Hi guys and girls I'm Jay and I am new to all this and I am looking well forward to cracking on and making my first Home brew I am still waiting for a few bits and pieces ie hydrometer, a few more bottles, a capper and crown caps.

I am married to an older bit of Stuff :hat:, with 3 children well if you can call the eldest 2 that (21 and 18) and our own 7 year old boy. I have been bored for the last year and a half and I have decided its time I gave home brewing a go to take me away from the doldrums of boredom land.

I am ex Navy and now a HGV driver (Arctic's) Christmas 2012 I was diagnosed with a Brain tumour after suffering weakness in my right hand (I thought it might have been that too ) but unfortunately after a few tests of being pulled about left right and centre and a MRI scan It was more serious than we thought, it was only bloody incurable. so I have done my time on chemo which has shrunk it a bit, and after months and months of depression (due to not being able to do the best job in the world) it is time to begin a great rewarding hobby I have about 15 years to find a great, great Hoppy_Jay brew.

I have been trawling these forums for about a week or so now and think your all a great helpful bunch of guys.

When I start my first brew which is a 'make your own beer' kit from the Range 'premium lagar' I might do a step by step photo diary (if that is ok?) just to make sure I am doing things correctly:pray:

For now thank you and look forward to be chatting to you

Bloody hell, what a bummer. At least you sound like the kind of bloke who's got what it takes to make the most of things :) Pity you're at the opposite end of the country, I'd have you round for a brew any day!

Wassail!
Phil

Ahh cheers Phil, maybe one day I will bring some of my decent samples up to you and have a good secession. Distance doesn't bother me lol

This is going to be exciting and fun I think, even the family are looking forward to drinking the produce lol. My wife is a real ale drinker she loves the stuff along with wine and vodka I must add, but rather than sitting about moping I will start this new venture, we then can play 'ring of fire' (drinking card game) with my own booze yay!
