Hi! My name's Adam and I recently swapped to all grain (grainfather) after brewing an extra special bitter with extract, I had so much fun in the process I had to invest in my new favourite hobby. Currently have a Galaxy and Golden Promise SMaSH in the fermenter as well as a chocolate stout I'm hoping to add peanut flavour to when I keg for the first time in a couple of days. All exciting!

Thanks for all the help I've read off this forum so far, cheers!

Welcome to the forum! I'm also a grainfather user, had it for just over 2 years now after 3 kits (over several years) and then 4 promising stove-top batches in late 2016.

You're beers sound tasty, I did a Galaxy pale ale as my 3rd GF brew, maris otter and 13% munich, tasty but Galaxy can be a bit harsh for bittering.

Welcome Grampa! I've been trying to settle on a Choccy Stout recipe for ages but not got there yet, can I ask what you did?
Of course! As I'm a bit of a newbie I am still not sure if this will achieve the results I desire but I am adding a tincture of roasted cacoa nibs soaked in vodka for 5 days which I added to the primary the other day. I decided against using chocolate malt in the mash but I will probably live to regret this haha, from my samples it tastes excellent though!

This is my recipe if you wanted to take a look. I wanted biscuit notes hence the kilogram of biscuit malt but I'm not sure if it's achieved the effect I want quite, time shall tell. https://share.brewfather.app/ThaWANpptSrjzK

Aye, I tasted a sample and it did seem harshly bitter and I was worried, think you may have solved that mystery for me, thanks! I've added a 100g dry hop to it now so I'm sure it will be delicious!

Welcome! A theoretical physicist! My word, one of the subjects I would consider to be the most random and fascinating.

Respect.

You have chosen a good hobby as well

Thanks! I find it's good to have a hobby to take a break from all the maths haha, but yes it can be extremely fascinating!
