Aye, entered a wee heavy and a lager. Ruined my lager though, long story... So might have to amend that entry to a mediocre pale ale as the lager I currently have was only kegged a week ago.

I've got a few entries down for this but my pre-comp brewing schedule got scuppered due to life getting in the way plus the beer I did get to brew ended up rank. So I'll be deploying a couple of 'vintages' (polite term) from my cellar (cupboard under the sink) and a 2 month old imp stout which whilst tasting okay could really be doing with a good bit more aging.

I'm sending in an APA and a BIPA.
Not expecting great scores as I decided to try to pick the best styles for the beers I already had planned, rather than change my plans to brew 'to style' for the comp.
(getting excuses in early :laugh8:)

Guys a wee heads up, if you’d like to change your entry/entries to a beer style(s) that you currently have ready - I believe you can do so up until tomorrow. I’m going to have to do one of mine!

Yeah I need to get my BIPA bottled and tasted tonight as a last minute category change could be needed.

My Wee Heavy isn't great (although I've never tasted one before) and last minute change from American Pale to American Amber Ale as that's all I've got which is drinkable. Even that's *****; first and last time using RedX I think... Jesus!

I changed mine from APA to American Amber Ale after tasting it quite young and thinking it wasn't quite hoppy enough or pale enough or high enough ABV for an APA (and I thought there wont be many American Amber Ale entries), but I am drinking a pint of it now and enjoying it, it might pass as an American IPA.
I'll just have to wait and see what the judges make of it

Wee update from Sarah on the WNHC FB page.

Entries will be judged across 17 different tables (groupings). The number of entries range from 9 in table 3, Amber & Dark lager, and 27 in table 6, American pale and amber ales. Ouch!

I believe a full list of tables will be announced later in the week.

Nice to see a decent number of tables.

One of my entries is on table 6. I'll have to go for a dark lager next year

You've been a bit unlucky there. In my experience American pale and IPA are normally grouped and American Amber is often separate or alongside American Brown and/or American Strong.

Still, you never know!

And mine :laugh8:

I was thinking that seemed that an odd grouping though. Fingers crossed the Wood Aged Beers group is a bit less popular.

For those not aware, there will be a live results stream on YouTube around 6pm.

Subscribe to Daft Cat Brewing on YouTube, then click on the wee bell icon. This will give you a notification right before the stream starts.

Good luck!

Well done @Ghillie :hat:what did your Wee Heavy score?
I managed just 27 for my APA and 30 for my Wood aged BIPA

That’s nice work Dan, a good score so hats off to you!

I scored 37 for my Wee Heavy and 32 for my APA. The latter I really wasn’t happy with, but sent it in anyway as I’d already paid for the entry.

Looking forward to reading the feedback!
