Hi over time my FV's are starting to show discolouration and staining. I have soaked them with Wilkp Oxi clean but it does not seem to shift the stains is it because the Wilko Oxi is not very good or that I need to use a different product / different process rather than just leaving for a soak. Any suggestions chaps

I use unscented Tesco Thin Bleach.

Only a tiny amount is needed to remove stains. Two methods of use:
  1. Pour +/-250ml of bleach into a 25 litre FV, fill it up with water and let it soak for 24 hours.
  2. Top up 250ml of bleach to a litre and then wear rubber gloves and use a sponge to wash the inside of the FV.
Using either method, rinse the FV out with fresh water to get rid of any smell or taste of the bleach.

I then dry the FV with kitchen paper and leave it overnight to dry out completely before hitting it with a spray of diluted StarSan before using it for fermenting.

PS

As with ALL sanitising products, Safety Glasses and Neoprene Gloves are recommended before use.
